HUMAN BEINGS
INTRODUCTION (Senses and Feelings)

Human beings and animals have five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.  The eyes are the organs of sight, the ears those for hearing, the nose that for smell, the tongue and palate those of taste, and the skin contains the organs of touch.

Which are the organs of sight?

In the order to life, human beings and animals must eat, drink and breathe.  If they do not eat, drink or breathe for a certain time, they die.  The organs of breathing (respiration) are lungs, which are in the chest.  We eat food, which is taken into the mouth, swallowed, and digested in the stomach. The stomach is the organ of digestion.

If we cut ourselves, blood flows from the cut.  We bleed.  Blood does not remain in the same place in the body; it circulates by it is beating.  The heart makes the blood circulate; it is the organ circulation.
Human beings are different from animals because they can speak and their intelligence is greater and they can reason, the principal organs of speech are the tongue, palate and lips. The organ of thought is the brain, which is more developed in man than in animals. We do not know id animals think or direct their actions by instinct alone.

If we like a person, we feel affection for the person, or we are fond of the person. If our affection or fondness for a person is very strong feeling, we love that person. Parents love their children; children love their parents. We love our country. On the contrary, if our feeling of dislike for a person is very strong, we hate that person. Some people say the cats hate dogs.

Very good people hate nobody because it is wrong to hate. We feel admiration for anything very beautiful and repulsion when we look at the something very ugly. If you receive good news about a friend in a letter, you feel glad; if the news is bad, you feel sorry.

Do we feel admiration for a beautiful statue?

You are glad to see people you like and you are sorry when they leave you. You are sorry to hear that a friend is ill. You are glad to hear that he or she is better.
