INTRODUCTION
In the country we see many domestic animal such as cows, sheep, donkeys, horses, etc., and some wild animals such as hares, wild rabbits, foxes, moles and squirrels. All domestics animals are useful because they enable us to obtain meat, hides, skin, wool, milk, etc.....
All the above animals are mammals.
In the farms, we can also see many domestics bird such as cocks, hens, geese and ducks, and in the country some wild birds, which sing very beautifully, and some birds of prey such as the eagle; but this last bird is rare in England.
In the summer months, insects such as bees, butterflies, moths, flies, etc., are very common. Some are harmful, others are harmless, and some (like the bee, which makes honey) are useful.
In the seas, lakes, ponds and rivers we find fish and amphibious animals such as frogs.
If we go to the zoo, we can see animals from all over the world: lions, tiger, bears, wolves, etc.
With few exceptions mammals live on land and can walk, run and jump.
Most birds cannot only run and hop; they can also fly with their wings. They are covered with feathers.
Fish covered with scales. They Swim about in the water with their fins and tails.
Insects fly, creep or hop, and some live in water and swim.
Mr. Allen:
The keepers are very proud of some of the animals here. They have trained whole families of chimpanzees to perform all sorts of tricks, but I am afraid we have not come at the right moment to see the performance
Mr. Burrows:
The chattering and squealing is rather tiring
Mr. Allen:
Let us go to the Reptile House
Mr. Burrows:
These snakes have the most beautifully coloured skin. Ah! here is a boa-constrictor. It looks very sleepy. I am not surprised; it must be digesting a heavy meal
Mr. Allen:
Well, let us leave it to its meditations, and go on to the crocodiles and tortoises
Mr. Burrows:
I know no animal more repulsive than the crocodile. It seems to have only one quality; its skin make good leather
Mr. Allen:
Here are the giant tortoises. Some are said to be several hundred years old.
Mr. Burrows:
They look their age. Shall we go out now? Those children are having a grand time riding on the elephant
Mr. Allen:
Yes, and the elephants seem to enjoy carrying them. Well, here we come to the birds. Here are the pheasants.
I did not know that there were so many different kinds. Hoe beautiful the cocks are! And they seem to know it!
Mr. Allen:
Yes, I always feel so sorry for the hens. Their plumage is quite pretty, but so plain beside that of the cocks. Now, let us have a look at the parrots and then at the water birds. Afterwards, we can glance at the seals and go on to the aquarium.
Mr. Burrows:
How brightly coloured that little drake is! Ah! There are some black swans with red bills. It is the first time I have seen any.
Mr. Allen:
They are from Australia. Here are the seals. They swim remarkably well, but how heavy and clumsy they are out of the water.
Mr. Burrows:
Here is the aquarium. What splendid colours these perch have! That pike is unpleasant-looking beast.
Mr. Allen:
Yes, indeed. Come and see these little trout. Then we can go over there and look at the tropical fish
Mr. Burrows:
How they flash as they swim about!
Mr. Allen:
Let us look at the turtles and then go home. We shall be just in time for dinner.

B. TRANSLATION (Worksheet: Make better the translation below!)
Mr Allen:
Berikut adalah kura-kura raksasa. Beberapa dikatakan berusia beberapa ratus tahun.
Mr Burrows:
Mereka melihat usia mereka. Haruskah kita keluar sekarang? Anak-anak itu bersenang-senang mengendarai gajah
Mr Allen:
Ya, dan gajah sepertinya menikmati membawa mereka. Nah, disini kita datang ke burung. Inilah burung pegar.
Mr. Burrows:
Saya tidak tahu ada begitu banyak jenis. Cangkul indah ayam adalah! Dan sepertinya mereka tahu itu!
Mr. Allen:
Mr Burrows:
Bagaimana mereka berkedip saat mereka berenang!
Mr Allen:
Mari kita lihat kura-kura itu lalu pulang. Kita akan tepat waktu untuk makan malam.

SUMMARY
Our two friends spend an afternoon at the zoo, which Mr. B. has not yet seen. Mr Burrows remarks that the squirrels are very tame and regrets they have nothing to give them.
They look at the birds of prey, and pass on to the Lion House where they admire the huge mane of the lion and the cubs of the lioness. Mr. B. finds the chattering and squealing of the monkeys rather tiring, so they go to the reptile house. From there they visit the elephants, and on their way out they go through the aquarium.
READING AND CONVERTATION
Mr. Allen:
Today we are going to walk through Regent's Park to the Zoo, which you have not yet seen. Here is the Park.
Mr. Burrows:
How tame these grey squirrels are! Why one is feeding out of that child's hand!
Mr. Allen:
Yes, I regret we have nothing to give them. Well, here is the Zoo.
Mr. Burrows:
These eagles and birds of prey look very miserable on their perches.
Mr. Allen:
Yes, they do. Let us go to the Lion House. We can hear their roaring.
Mr. Burrows:
What a splendid pair of animals! I have never seen a lion with such a huge mane.
Mr. Allen:
You are right; they are beautiful animals and have been in the Zoo for same years. Last year the lioness had cubs.
Mr. Burrows:
I see the keeper is just about to feed the tigers over there. How magnificent they are with their striped coats and glistening fangs!
Mr. Allen:
Those fangs and claws make me glad to be outside their cage and not inside.
Mr. Burrows:
Now, let's go on to the Monkey House

B. TRANSLATION (Worksheet: Make better the translation below!)
HEWAN
PENGANTAR
Mr Allen:
Berikut adalah kura-kura raksasa. Beberapa dikatakan berusia beberapa ratus tahun.
Mr Burrows:
Mereka melihat usia mereka. Haruskah kita keluar sekarang? Anak-anak itu bersenang-senang mengendarai gajah
Mr Allen:
Ya, dan gajah sepertinya menikmati membawa mereka. Nah, disini kita datang ke burung. Inilah burung pegar.
Mr. Burrows:
Saya tidak tahu ada begitu banyak jenis. Cangkul indah ayam adalah! Dan sepertinya mereka tahu itu!
Mr. Allen:
Mr Burrows:
Bagaimana mereka berkedip saat mereka berenang!
Mr Allen:
Mari kita lihat kura-kura itu lalu pulang. Kita akan tepat waktu untuk makan malam.
Semangat nulis terus ya ummi.....
