The two gentlemen arrive at Waterloo Station and drive to their hotel. There are not many
vacant rooms in the hotel and their cannot have any on the lower floors.
Finally, they choose two good rooms on the fourth
floor in the front of the hotel, which will cost £5 a day each. They take them and have their luggage brought
up by the porter.
They wash and change their clothes and go down to the
restaurant, for both are feeling hungry. They have lunch and then go out for a walk.

For their walk in London the two gentlemen have

Mr. Allen. tells his friend that the buildings in
Whitehall are Government Offices and on arriving at the end of the street, he
point out the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey They have no time to
visit the Abbey and, as Mr.B. feels tired, they jump on bus, which takes them
back to their hotel. After dinner they will go to a theatre.

For their second afternoon in London, the two
gentlemen go to the City. They take a bus which goes along Victoria street,
Whitehall and the Strand.
At the end of the Strand, they see Temple Bar.

Then the bus carries them along Fleet Street which is
full of publishing houses and newspaper offices. At the end of Fleet Street,
they see Ludgate Hill. The bus goes up to the Hill on the top of which they see
St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The bus turn into Cheapside and, shortly after, they
alight at the Bank which is on their left. In front of them is the Stock
Exchange and on their right the Mansion House Where the lord Mayor lives. The
two gentlemen feel thirsty and go to a bar to have a drink.
Mr. Allen. tells his friend the value of different
English coins. After their drink, they
continue their walk, and when they are tired, take a taxy. They drive through
some of the more interesting London streets, and when it grows dark and begins
to rain, they return to their hotel. They will continue their drive another
time

THE COUNTRY
Mr. Allen and his American friend Mr. Burrows spend a
day in the country near London
